In November 2018 Thomas Wiederstein was invited to visit the recently opened SHREE JANATA BASIC SCHOOL DORAKHARKA in northeastern Nepal. The Chairman of the project is eight-time Everest summiteer Pemba Sherpa. He and his supporters are eager to establish better opportunities for the next generations in the Himalayas. School Project is one of the important steps. Lessons already started in the first building, more are in the making. To raise enough money, to find qualified teachers, and to build in such a remote area is quite a challenge. There are still many obstacles to overcome. Together with Pemba’s cousin Pema, Thomas Wiederstein spent one amazing morning in the school to witness the progress of the undertaking school project first hand.
